Welcome to our Champion 9375 Generator Review.

After the big snowstorm that took place in Texas in early 2021, I realized I had to be prepared. Unfortunately, the generator our family had was not very big at all, and we relied heavily on our fireplace to keep us warm, along with mylar blankets.

Everyone in our home was OK, and nobody got hurt or was sick. But I knew next time I might not be so lucky. I knew I had to get a generator and fast- I decided on the Champion 9375 generator. Perhaps you too will discover that this is the best generator for your family, as I did.

A Quick Summary Of The Champion 9375 Generator Review

Champion 9375 generator

I find the Champion 9375 generator easy to use and operate, which was my main concern. Could my spouse confidently turn the generator on if I was away?

Could a responsible young adult who may not have a lot of technical experience (e.g., a teenage son or daughter) turn on the generator if they needed warmth in a storm?

The electric start makes it very easy for anyone to turn on and off- just flip the toggle switch, and away you go.

The tires are guaranteed never to go flat, as they are made of tough plastic, and you do not need to worry about accidentally losing a tire rolling over a sharp rock or object on the garage floor/yard.

I also appreciated the cold weather start, as we all know that engines often do not want to start in the cold.

There is a lot more to this great machine than meets the eye.

Champion 9375 Generator Overview

At this time, I would like to go into greater detail about why I think the Champion 9375 generator is the best one around.

What Does the Product Do?

This generator will grant you all the backup power you desire and does it with convenience and safety at its core. This generator will not cost a bundle to run and features a Champion 420cc one-cylinder engine that will power the bulk of your household appliances when running at top power.

The 9375 in its name signifies the starting watts of the generator. It can also offer 7500 running watts to handle everything you need to run your household: the fridge, lights, the washing machine, the computers, electronics, etc. I sleep with a CPAP, so this meant sleeping safely for me.

The generator takes just under 6 gallons of gas- 5.7 to be exact- and with that small amount of gas, you will enjoy 8 hours of power when operating at a load of 50%.

I also liked that it was not too loud- when positioned 23 feet away, it comes in at 74 decibels, which is the same as a vacuum cleaner. So you can go about your day, and while you will notice the sound at first, it eventually fades into the background.

So, if you like a generator that operates without too much sound, this one would be a perfect option for you.

Is it good? Why?

This is the most common question I have gotten from friends and family, and I can confidently say YES. This is because all the essentials stay on while the power is not.

If you have a family member working from home (my kids were doing e-learning at the time) and they need their computers/internet/etc., this will keep them going.

More importantly, it keeps the heat and lights on and essential electronics running– for me, it happened to be my CPAP.

The Features Of The Champion 9375 Generator

Multi-Purpose

Generators are typically thought of as emergency-power devices. However, this generator is easy to use at the worksite or home when doing DIY jobs. At just 1200 watts, you can operate a hand sander, paint sprayer, hedge trimmer, and fan.

At 2800 to 3800 watts, you can power the circular saw, chainsaw, pressure washer, or electric lawnmower. I did see some reviews that indicated it was great for camping, but we haven’t tried that scenario.

Easy to Set Up

The instruction manual is well-written in plain English. The generator setup is pretty quick if you have some basic technical knowledge. I was able to fire it up on the first try.

It features a digital readout that displays four modes: runtime for your operating session, frequency in Hertz, and all running time for your generator. I chose the model with the Wireless start; it is as simple as using the key fob to fire it up.

VoltGuard

If you have ever felt nervous about using a generator because you fear overloading it, this feature helps alleviate that fear.

All your equipment will stay safe with the VoltGuard, a surge protector that’s built right in. So feel free to run your work/school computers with confidence that they won’t be fried.

Varied Outlets

This generator comes with 120/240V 30A locking outlets, four 120V 20-amp GFCIs, 120/240V 50a RV outlets.

Portability/Storage

Dimensions of this generator are 29.9 x 26 x 25.2. It has an open-frame construction that makes the unit stable and OK to raise it above ground. This design style is good for constant outdoor use and environments where it’s going to get lots of wear and tear, such as a job site.

In terms of portability, the wheels make it somewhat easier. But do keep in mind that this item weighs in at 206 lbs. For me, that’s a decent enough challenge, but for some others, it may be too heavy to lift. If you have a bad back or trouble lifting heavy things, consider getting a friend or family member to help you.

Intelligauge

This generator helps you keep track of its activity and status with its “Intelligauge” meter. This fills you in on the voltage, lifetime hours, and frequency. The built-in fuel gauge shows you how much gasoline is left. There is also a low-oil auto-shutoff feature and that great VoltGuard feature.

Warranty

When you purchase your generator- and we all know it’s not something you can just buy on a whim- you are protected by a three-year warranty and the lifetime help desk offered by Champion. They will be there to provide help or parts if you need them.

The Best Alternatives To Champion Generator

I shopped around while choosing my generators and found a few runner-ups. Check these out for other fine choices:

Pulsar G12KBN Heavy Duty Portable Fuel Generator

This generator is a dual-fuel model, meaning you can pick between LPG or gasoline fuel. However, LPG is sometimes easier to store, especially in cases of natural disasters or emergencies. So this could be good for people in hurricane zones. The engine is powerful at 457cc and features an electric start.

Outlets included are a single 120V 20A AC outlet, a single 120V/240V 30amp twist-lock outlet, a single 50A 120V/240V outlet, and a 12V DC outlet. The wheels are the never-flat variety, and its compact design makes it easy to store when not in use. It has 12,000 peak watts but is rated at 9500 watts.

DuroStar DS12000EH Portable Generator

This handy little machine operates at 12,000 peak watts and 9500 running watts. As a result, you can power your appliances, computers, and lights with ease. Outlets included are two 120V household outlets, a single 120V 30-amp twist-lock outlet, a single 120/240V 30-amp twist lock, and a single 120/240V 50-amp heavy-duty outlet.

This particular unit also features a 12-volt DC charge post for use with external batteries. I also like that this unit can run on propane or gasoline, granting users the freedom to use the fuel that works for them. The fuel tank on this is a bit bigger at 8.3 gallons, which is ideal for busier households.

Westinghouse Outdoor Power Equipment 9500DF

This generator features 9500 running watts and 12500 peak watts when powered with gasoline and 11200 peak watts and 8500 running watts when using propane. What caught my eye was the 12 hours of running time with just a 6.6-gallon fuel tank. The engine is powerful at 457cc and will shut down when the oil is low automatically.

There is a digital hour meter included, so use that to see when it’s time to add oil again. This generator also has a remote-start feature. It includes two duplexes 120V 20-amp outlets, a 120/240V 30-amp outlet, a 120/240V 50A outlet, and a single ST switch-ready outlet.

In Conclusion

I would highly recommend this Champion 9375 generator to anyone interested in purchasing one. This generator can do it all and give your family the necessities until the main power switch gets turned on.

If you are not around to use the generator, it is easy to turn it on. Just show a family member how to do it- it is as simple as showing them the key fob and pressing the button. You do not even need to leave the house.

It needs just a little gasoline to operate- a regular jerry can is all you need. One of those and this generator, and you’re ready to face the next power outage confidently.
